Modern rechargeable batteries are now high-capacity, but they also owe their battery life to the right application. Lithium-ion batteries have replaced other battery types in many places.

Tips for the correct charging of lithium-ion batteries

• Make sure your charging cycles are as consistent as possible.
• Avoid completely discharging your battery pack. If there is no charging possibility, switch off the device.
• Do not charge the battery unnecessarily early (e.g. at 50 %).
• Never leave devices with a lithium-ion battery plugged in longer than necessary. Do not leave headphones, speakers or smartphones on the cable overnight.
• If you do not use your device for a longer period of time, the battery should neither be discharged nor charged above 90 %.
• The optimal charge level for lithium-ion batteries is between 30 and 80 %.
• Protect your battery devices from extreme temperatures (frost, blazing sun), shocks (falls), high humidity or moisture.

Bluetooth devices with rechargeable battery and IPX protection class

If you want to use your Bluetooth devices in damp or wet areas, make sure that the speaker or headphones have the appropriate IPX protection class. The respective IPX protection class indicates whether you can use your device in the sauna, while jogging, in the rain or under water. IPX-normed are for example our devil ROCKSTER GO, ROCKSTER CROSS, MOTIV® GO, BOOMSTER GO, BOOMSTER and many of our devil headphones.

Charging the ROCKSTER CROSS correctly

The integrated lithium-ion battery is charged as soon as the ROCKSTER CROSS is supplied with power via the power adapter. Connect the small plug of the power adapter to the POWER jack and connect the power adapter to a power outlet (100-240 V~, 50/60 Hz) via the power cord. Charging is signaled by four white LEDs of the battery indicator:

100 %	all 4 LEDs are lit
75-99 %	3 LEDs on, 4th flashing
50-74 %	2 LEDs on, 3rd flashing
25-49 %	1 LED on, 2. flashes
<25 %	lowest LED flashes

Charging the ROCKSTER AIR correctly

The battery is only pre-charged when delivered. You must fully charge the battery before using it for the first time. The internal battery is charged as soon as the ROCKSTER AIR is connected to the mains and switched on.

If there is no audio signal for 20 minutes, the ROCKSTER AIR switches to standby mode. To ensure that the charging process is not interrupted here, please switch the rear control to "permanently on".

During charging, the LEDs "BATTERY STATUS" show the charging status with a running light.
A complete charging cycle of the internal battery takes about 7 hours. After charging, the integrated charger switches to trickle charge and keeps the battery fully charged even for several weeks.

What is the memory effect?

The so-called memory effect or battery inertia effect is the result of incorrect charging. It manifests itself in the fact that the battery discharges faster instead of building up power. Older devices with nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries are particularly affected.

The memory effect is caused by crystals that form inside the battery when overvoltage occurs. Overvoltage occurs, for example, when you connect the power cable to your devices even though the battery is still half full. Over time, the crystals ensure that the capacity is reduced and the battery can no longer call up its full power when discharging. As a result, the end device receives an earlier signal that the battery capacity has been used up.

Solution: The so-called memory effect can be almost completely eliminated, especially with NiCd batteries, by discharging and recharging the battery several times.
