What do HDMI, ARC, eARC and HDMI CEC mean?
HDMI - High-Definition Multimedia Interface: is a widely used standard for transmitting high-resolution audio and video signals using a single channel.
ARC – Audio Return Channel: If a television has an HDMI port, which is ARC compatible (generally written on the HDMI port), audio can be sent in both directions with this HDMI port, meaning both from and to the TV.
eARC - Enhanced Audio Return Channel: A significantly higher bandwidth and speed for data transmission. The functions of HDMI ARC can be accessed with an HDMI cable. For HDMI eARC, you need a specific cable. If a TV is eARC combatible, but your soundbar or amplifier is only ARC-enabled, you can still listen to audio using your sound system.
HDMI CEC – Consumer Electronics Control: Allows devices connected to the HDMI/ARC port to be controlled by the TV remote control. That involves what is called a CEC network, which is established between the devices.

Fix common errors with the following tips:
If sound is not reaching the devil system from the TV through the HDMI ARC cable, check the following:
On the TV:
- Does the TV support ARC and is ARC activated? Which HDMI ports support ARC (not necessarily HDMI 1)?
- Check if HDMI-CEC has to be activated on your TV in order use the ARC feature.
- HDMI CEC/ARC generally functions best when you turn on your TV first.
Cables:
- Is the cable connected to the right HDMI port?
- Check the fit of the cable: are all cables seated properly? Are the cables connected properly? Try pulling the cable out and putting it back in.
- Disconnect all devices from power for 30 seconds and try again. One of the most common causes of HDMI problems is the process used by the devices to recognize and authorize the connection.
- Test another HDMI cable. If necessary, replace the cable with a high-quality, shielded cable.
Devices on the HDMI network:
- Make certain the connected devices support the audio format. For more information on supported audio devices, check the instruction manual.
- Connect the devices (receiver from streaming services, game consoles, etc.) directly to the TV.
- Make sure your devices are equipped with the most up-to-date firmware.
- Deactivate HDMI-CEC on other devices when possible.
Identify the source of more errors
If the above steps do not help, check the following:
- Disconnect all HDMI devices from the TV
- Check if the TV works normally without any HDMI devices
- First, connect just one devices with HDMI to the TV and check if everything works
If the first device is working, disconnect it and continue in the same way with all additional devices. After checking all devices, if they all work without issue, you have to find out which device is causing the communication problem. Disconnect all HDMI devices and connect the soundbar, AV receiver, or home cinema system to your TV and check if everything is working. Then add more devices and check if everything is working properly. If you find the source of the error, inform the manufacturer and wait for their reaction.
