How do I best position the Ultima speakers?
Trust your hearing when positioning! It’s best to start by placing the speakers according to the advice in the manual Setting up speakers & home theater and in our blog: Speaker positioning: The comprehensive guide.
How much distance should there be between the wall and the ULTIMA speakers?
There is no general answer to this question. The optimal positioning is not always clear-cut. You decide based on your hearing and preferences. Here are some general tips:
- A sufficient distance from the wall is important to prevent unwanted sound reflections that can negatively affect playback.
- Also pay attention to sufficient distance from the side walls to reduce side reflections.
- Feel free to use the information and advice in the manual Proper stereo speaker placement and in our blog: Speaker positioning: The comprehensive guide.
- Experiment if necessary with the setup to achieve balanced bass reproduction and minimize interactions with the room.
Can I mount spikes under the base plate of the floor-standing speakers?
In theory, spikes can be attached under any ULTIMA base plate.
However, please note that the base plate of the current version of the ULTIMA 40 (from March 2025) no longer has pre-drilled holes for mounting spikes.
On the underside of the speaker base plate of older versions, there are corresponding threaded holes for mounting spikes.

Why are there four terminals on the connection terminal?
On the back of the speakers there is a connection terminal with four terminals each.
Thanks to these, you can use bi-wiring or bi-amping.
By default, speaker bridges (small gold-plated metal clamps) are installed on the connection terminal of the ULTIMA 40. If you want to connect the speaker without bi-wiring/bi-amping, the terminals remain in place and thus bridge the signal between the two connections.
If you decide on bi-wiring or bi-amping, the bridges must be removed.
Further information can be found here: What are the advantages of bi-amping/bi-wiring?
